KOLAR, 24 APRIL
The Railway
Protection Force (RPF) authorities at Bangarpet in Kolar district rescued 10
children from Bihar who were brought there by unknown persons on the pretext of
admitting them to a Madrasa in Malur.
On
Wednesday at around 11.30am, the RPF’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit were
conducting checks on the Kaziranga Express that runs between Guwahati and
Bengaluru, when it spotted 10 children aged between 10 and 15 years in a
compartment without any adults accompanying them.
The
children told the RPF personnel that they belonged to Araria district of Bihar
and were going to Malur to continue their higher studies in a Madrasa
there. They also told the RPF that the person who brought them has gone
to the ticket counter to buy tickets to Malur.
Suspecting
foul play, the RPF personnel took the children to the police station. On questioning,
they told RPF Inspector Suresh that a person brought them there with the
assurance of facilitating higher education in engineering and medical fields at
a Madarasa in Malur.
As no one turned up to pick up the boys, Inspector Suresh consulted the District Child Protection unit and handed them over to the Children Welfare Committee in KGF, where they have been provided shelter.
